Everyone knows that eating a healthy diet is more beneficial and can help people lower the risk of diseases or any other health condition that can be caused by bad eating. Studies have shown that eating a healthy diet allows people to get the nutrients they need and builds a stronger immune system that is necessary for the body to heal. When a person gives the body food that is not good for them, it can often affect a person’s mood or make some feel not so good about themselves.

Food is a basic necessity for every human and any other living thing to survive. Over the past few years, new studies have shown that the way people eat can increase the risk of dying from heart disease, stroke, or type 2 diabetes. Those who consume foods such as processed meat, sugar-sweetened beverages, and food with high sodium content are at higher risk of developing one of those illnesses. Those who do not consume enough nuts, fruits, vegetables, and other nutritional foods are also at higher risk of developing heart disease or death. It is important that the human body consumes food such as fruits and vegetables, so the body can get the proper vitamins. Getting the proper vitamins and minerals is known to increase a person’s energy.

A balanced diet consists of fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products. These eating habits limit the amount of sodium, saturated and trans fats, and added sugars that are consumed. Roughly 75% of Americans say they eat a healthy diet, but according to the CDC, 42.4 % of Americans are obese. Obesity is a very serious health problem that people need to be serious about.  Obesity is not just a weight problem, it can affect a person’s physical, metabolic, and psychological health. Scientists have suggested many different ways to improve eating habits and your health. Some ways to start improving eating habits are by limiting portions, eating breakfast, and also learning how to eat when you are actually hungry and stop when you’re comfortably full. Just starting off with these ways to improve eating habits can greatly improve a person’s well-being and health.

It is important that each person gets all the vitamins and minerals from their foods. These nutrients are essential and allow the bodies to grow and allow cells in the bodies to perform their necessary functions. When the cells are not properly functioning, the metabolic process slows down or they may even stop.
