Simpson’s Predictions

Simpsons+Predictions

The Simpsons have been known for predicting situations that have yet to happen. Most of these predictions have been monumental moments in history, while others have been simple insignificant moments.

One of the most memorable predictions was Donald Trump’s presidency. An earlier episode predicted that Lady Gaga would enter a performance suspended in the air by wire cables, which she later did during her 2017 Super Bowl halftime show. During the Super Bowl halftime show, Lady Gaga was also seen wearing an outfit very similar to the one she was wearing in the Simpsons episode.

During an episode, which aired in 2010, Milhouse made a bet that Bengt R Holmstrom would win the Nobel Prize. Bengt R Holmstrom was a Finnish economist, and six years after the initial episode aired, he went on to win the Nobel Prize in Economics.

A certain clip from a specific episode apparently “predicted 2020”. The episode in question shows a doctor claiming that the only treatment for a certain illness was bed rest. The episode then shows the citizens fighting over finding the placebo that would help fight this illness. The viewers took this as a prediction for covid-19 and the vaccinations. The very same episode showed multiple boxes that had been turned over, these boxes supposedly contained “killer bees”. The fans saw this as a prediction of last year’s hornet infestation.

A much earlier episode of The Simpsons shows Marge receiving a letter from Ringo Starr, in response to a fan mail letter she had sent him multiple years earlier. This prediction later became a reality when in 2013 two women received a letter from another Beatle member, Paul McCartney, in response to a piece of fan mail they had sent him over 50 years ago.

In a season 21 episode, Marge and Homer are seen traveling to the winter Olympics with a curling team. The episode later shows them defeating Sweden, while the U.S. took home a gold medal. These events later became true 8 years later, in Pyongyang, when the first U.S. gold title for the sport was brought home by the national men’s curling team.

The most recent prediction has been the tragic Astroworld concert. Animated art shows the album cover for Astroworld and the way the stage had been set up. A scene in the episode shows Mare in traffic stating, “Huh! This concert is oversold. It’s as if a music promoter acted unscrupulously.” She is also seen looking at a sign that reads, “Roofi concert 5 miles”. Astroworld was a tragedy that has many grieving the loss of loved ones. Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña told reporters early Saturday, “At least eight people have died since a crowd crush broke out at Scott’s Astroworld festival in Texas on Nov. 5. A mass of concertgoers at Houston’s NRG Park “began to compress” to the front of the stage at around 9:15 p.m., obstructing people’s breathing and causing them to lose consciousness. Three hundred people were treated at the site, including 11 people in cardiac arrest.”
