Two Newnan men were found dead in West Point Lake. The first victim was found on the ninth of August, Monday afternoon. The second victim was found on the tenth, Tuesday morning. After the first body was identified, it was brought to shore by a police officer’s boat. Later on, a second body would be identified later that day. At first, neither bodies were identified. However, shortly after, the bodies were identified as 46-year-old Marcus Lee Caswell of Newnan and 31-year-old Travis Michael Lodato of Newnan.

Investigators believe that both bodies were left in West Point Lake in an attempt to hide the bodies or dispose of any evidence. It is speculated that Marcus Caswell was killed by one singular gunshot to the head.  Marcus Caswell’s body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab in order for an autopsy to be completed. The speculation regarding Travis Lodato suggests he was killed by several different gunshot wounds in various places. Travis Lodato’s body was also sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab for an autopsy to be completed.  Both bodies were found in the area of Lower Glass Bridge Road. It has been revealed that Marcus Caswell and Travis Lodato were roommates while visiting Troup County, from Newnan Georgia. It has also been said that both Caswell’s and Lodato’s motorcycles were missing.

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged a suspect as of the sixteenth. Investigators arrested 30-year-old Joshua Nutt, of Lower Big Springs Road. Joshua Nutt was arrested and charged with two counts of murder.
