There has been a lot of controversy on whether there should be a college football season or not because of the coronavirus situation.  However, officials have finally decided there will be a college football season, but only with limited games, and not all conferences will be participating. On Monday, August 17, the SEC network released the Georgia Bulldogs final 2020 football schedule. On some websites, you might find that Georgia will be playing 12 games, but that is not the most up to date schedule. Unfortunately due to coronavirus, the Bulldogs will be playing 10 games instead of 12 with SEC teams only. The reasoning for having limited games is to make sure there is enough scheduling room so they can make any necessary adjustments while dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. It was announced that Georgia’s first game will be on Sept. 26 against Arkansas. Originally they were set to play at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against Virginia on Sept. 7, but the SEC called off that game and decided to have a conference only schedule. After Georgia is back from the road, they will have back-to-back home games. Georgia’s second game will be against Auburn. This deep seated rivalry game will be playing on Oct. 3. This game will be good for Georgia to test out their new offense. We all know that this game is going to be a very serious and physical game. Georgia’s next game will be on Oct. 10 against Tennessee.

The game of the century that everyone has been waiting for is Georgia v.s. Alabama. Georgia will be back on the road to Alabama on Oct. 17. This will be the Bulldogs first time back in Tuscaloosa to play Alabama since 2007. In 2007, former quarterback Mathew Stafford gave the ball to Mikey Henderson for a 25-yard touchdown leading Georgia to a 26-23 overtime victory. Ever since 2007 Georgia has not beaten Alabama. Now Alabama holds the series with a lead of 40-25-4. This is also including the two since Kirby Smart has been the head coach. Hopefully this year Georgia can finally beat Alabama after 12 years.

After the very suspenseful game with Alabama, Georgia will be back and forth on the road. On Oct. 24 Georgia will be visiting Kentucky. After that game, all SEC teams will have a week off to reschedule games if needed. The next game features Florida in Jacksonville.  Florida has not beaten Georgia since the game they had back in 2016. In that game, Florida beat Georgia by 14 points. On Nov. 7 we are going to see if Georgia can keep their winning streak against Florida. The rest of Georgia’s games will be played on Nov. 14 against Missouri, Nov. 21 at home against Mississippi State, Nov. 28 at  South Carolina, and then their last game will be at home against Vanderbilt on Dec. 5. On the Dawg Nation website, they believe Georgia will have a final record of 9-1. After Georgia plays these games, each school will have another open date on Dec.12

The 2020 SEC Football Championship game is scheduled to be at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Dec. 19. Before they finished the final schedule, the championship game was set to be on Dec. 5 until they rescheduled their games later in September due to the coronavirus. The times for kickoff will be coming soon.
