On Monday night, September, 2nd, at 10:30 p.m., a 14-year-old in Elkmont, Alabama called 911 to report gunfire coming from the upstairs of his home. When police arrived at the home the disturbance was reported from, they found the caller’s father, stepmother, and three siblings in various stages of critical conditions. The teen vehemently denied involvement to authorities and reiterated his story until 3 a.m., when he relented and confessed.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that they located the alleged murder weapon, a handgun, on the side of the road where it had been disposed. This came after earlier reports that the teen was assisting in locating a 9 mm handgun. Of the five victims, three were dead at the scene and two were in critical condition. Just hours later, the office made a statement declaring the two others had passed as well.

The teen is being held at an unspecified juvenile facility and it is undetermined whether he will be tried/charged as an adult or child. His status as a minor could warrant him to be treated by the court as a juvenile, but this could be inapplicable depending on the motive established by the prosecution. No motive has been established at this time.
