The Golden Ray, a cargo ship that was set to deliver its cargo to Baltimore, capsized off the coast of Georgia on Monday, September 8th. The next day, the Coast Guard put a halt to the search, due to the instability of the conditions of the search area. The ship was carrying cars to Baltimore when all of the sudden, not long after leaving the Brunswick, GA port, it took a sharp turn and capsized in the Saint Simon’s Sound. The Coast Guard was able to get over 20 crew members off the ship, but when the search was called off there were still four people missing. The search was called off due to the fire burning on the ship and the instability of the cars on board.

The cause of the incident at the moment is unclear, but one thing is for certain, it’s rather unlikely that this can be blamed on Hurricane Dorian, as it had been long gone from Georgia by the time that the Golden Ray left port. The Port of Brunswick is still closed off, and all boats are banned from going within 100 ft. of the ship until the fire is put out and the missing people are found.
