Between March 25 and 26, 2018, Jennifer Hart drove a least five of her six kids and her wife over a 100-foot- high cliff into the Pacific Ocean in Mendocino County, California. Hart had five beers in her system, which Police believe was intended to be liquid courage since friends/colleagues report that Jennifer did not drink often. Five of Hart’s six adopted children have had remains identified at or near the location of the initial crash. Devonte Hart was the only child who has not been accounted for and Police hope that he is still alive somewhere.

Shockingly, it was recently found that Sarah Hart, Jennifer’s wife, had searched “How fast can I overdose on over the counter medications?,” “Can 500mg of Benadryl kill a 125 lbs woman?,” and “How long does it take to die from hypothermia while drowning in a car?” shortly before their deaths. She also had searched for a no-kill dog shelter. Her anxiety was clear, but Police do not believe she was a victim. Instead, they believe that she was a willing participant in orchestrating and supporting the murder-suicide.

Despite the family having a history of acute domestic abuse, the children remained in the custody of their adoptive parents until their untimely deaths at the hands of the Harts. Beginning as early as 2008, ten years before their murders, domestic abuse calls regarding the Harts began (just two years after they became parents). Physical abuse and racist behavior were repeatedly reported, but each time DFCS investigated, the charges were dismissed with the aid of a vague excuse, such as the childrens’ bruises being the result of them falling. Additionally, witnesses reported that the children were so obedient that they were robotic. Strange behavior, such as walking single file to their bedrooms and being told when to go to the bathroom, was noted by friends.

At this time, little information has been made known to the public. Police are continuing to investigate the crime and search for Devonte Hart in the hope that he survived the reign of terror his parents tortured him and his siblings with.
