Atlanta United V/S Red Bulls

Ashfiq Islam, Staff Writer

Atlanta United fell short to the New York Red Bulls again on September 30th. The Five Stripes conceded a penalty in the 39th minute and Tim Parker scored a goal in the 74th minute. The final score was 2-0 in favor of the Red Bulls.

The game could’ve been worse for Atlanta, as there were two more penalties awarded to the Red Bulls, the first being revoked due to VAR (Video Assistant Referee) and the second was blocked by Guzan. The loss also led to Atlanta not clinching a CONCACAF Champions League berth, this will now be possible in their upcoming games. The Supporters’ Shield race is coming down a tight race now, as United only leads by one point. Either way, one of the teams will break the most MLS points in the regular season record. Both teams have already clinched a playoff spot for the MLS playoffs and it seems as if both have a very easy three-game schedule ahead of them. This MLS season is coming down to the wire.
