Martinez Does It Again

Atlanta United’s, Josef Martinez, scored his 28th goal recently, which means he breaks the record for most goals in an MLS season. That goal also means Martinez tied another record.

Josef Martinez came on loan to Atlanta United in 2017 and he was officially signed in the beginning of 2018. In the 2017 season, Martinez netted 19 goals, though he was injured through half the season. This season, he’s truly showed what it means to be a prolific striker. The previous record of 27 goals was held by Bradley Wright Phillips. Martinez scored against Atlanta’s bitter rivals, Orlando, in the 74th minute to break that record. He also tied Nemanja Nikolic’s record of scoring in nine consecutive games. With eight more games to play, Martinez will surely lead Atlanta to the MLS Cup Playoffs, and maybe he will be the one to score to bring glory to Atlanta!
